Kick-Ass 2 Gets the Green Light
So after the shocking news that the Avengers will get a sequel (didn’t think it did that well personally!), it’s announced that Universal has started discussions to get Kick-Ass 2 off the ground. It’s believed that Universal has already started talks with main cast members Aaron Johnson (Dave/Kick-Ass), Chloe Moretz (Mindy/Hit Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Chris/Red-Mist). It also looks set to be directed/written by Jeff Wadlow of Cry Wolf fame. The script is believed to have been approved by creator Mark Millar and director of the first film Matthew Vaughn.
There’s not really much more in terms of details beyond that but the fact this has got a green-light is great, considering it didn’t exactly wow at box office level and is mainly seen as a cult favourite. As for what the story could involve, I would suggest getting hold of the Kick Ass 2 comics as they’re a good read and just as enjoyable/insane as the first series! The story involves our hero Kick-Ass joining a league of like minded vigilantes while Hit-Girl tries to adjust to a normal life and Red Mist changing his name to ‘The Mother-F**ker’ and recruiting various psychopaths to start an all out out war in New York!
My only doubt is with the choice of the director. Not heard a lot of great things about Wadlow’s first film, Cry Wolf. I’m also sad to see that Vaughn won’t be directing as he just got the tone of movie just right, but he’ll be occupied with X Men First Class 2. But as long as Millar and Vaughn approve of the script, I’m sure we’ll be getting a great sequel, which could live up to the standards set up by the first film.
