Mass Effect 3: Leviathan DLC

After being pleasantly surprised by the high quality and addictive nature of Mass Effect 3′s multiplayer, not to mention all the free DLC support the game has enjoyed, I have not really felt the inclination to play the single player campaign since finishing my second run through. Bioware and EA will no doubt be hoping to lure people back into Shepard’s story later this summer however with the release of the first single player DLC pack Leviathan.

There is a lengthy description over at Bioware’s Blog but here is a short excerpt that explains the basic premise of the DLC.

“Taking place during the events of Mass Effect 3, players will be thrust into the darkest corners of space where they will hunt a mysterious being rumored to be powerful enough to destroy a Reaper. As they race against time, they will begin to unravel the secret of the Leviathan.”

NOTE: Spoilers follow

Fans of the series may be familiar with the name Leviathan, a Reaper going by that name has been mentioned before by a Batarian character named Balak, who after appearing in the original Mass Effect’s Bring Down the Sky DLC later made a brief appearance in Mass Effect 3 tampering with medical stations.

Also there was a user over at pastebin recently who made a large dump of files taken from the extended cut DLC which  includes several  lines of dialogue, many of which hint at missions revolving around the search for a Reaper going by the name of Leviathan.

Well consider that good and spoiled anyway! I am still looking forward to this however and although there is no concrete date as yet, we can probably expect to see Leviathan on PSN, PC and XBOX Live toward the end of August, sometime after the release of a smaller campaign weapon pack on the 8th.
